 2001 Season Highlights
Made more than 30 starts for the fourth consecutive season, but dropped 14 spots on the final money list from the previous year -- 39th to 53rd. Earned just two top-10 finishes during the year, including one in his first start and another in his last start of the season. Best finish came in the final full-field event of the year at the SBC Championship in San Antonio. Posted three consecutive sub-par rounds for the only time all season which helped him to a T8... His other top-10 finish came in the first event of the year in Hawaii when he tied for 10th at the MasterCard Championship. Posted his best round of the campaign on Friday when he equalled the Hualalai course record with an 8-under 64. Had a two-stroke lead over Leonard Thompson and Bruce Fleisher after the first day, but posted a pair of 72s on the weekend. Friday's even-par round included a pair of eagles...Returned to the SENIOR TOUR National Qualifying Tournament in November and finished in the 11th position thanks in large part to a closing-round 66, the best score by any player that day. The 6-under-par 66 helped him jump from a tie for 33rd after three rounds. One of seven players involved in a playoff for the final two exempt spots. After Mike Smith and Dick Mast earned the final two spots, and R.W. Eaks took the ninth spot, he and Butch Sheehan went four extra holes before Sheehan took the 10th position with a par.
 Career Highlights
2000: Had all five of his top-10 finishes prior to the end of May including four in a six-event stretch between late February and early April...Had six straight par/better rounds in the final two events during the early Florida swing and finished T6 at the GTE Classic and T8 at the LiquidGolf.com Invitational...Also T6 at the Audi Senior Classic in Mexico thanks to a final-round 66 at LaVista CC...Set a course record at The Dominion during the SBC Championship when he opened the event with a sizzling 9-under 63. Was just one stroke back of Walter Hall through 36 holes of the San Antonio event, but fell back into a T11 after a final-round 75.1999: Earned a spot among the top-31 money-winners for the first time in his career...Was the last of a record 11 first-time winners on the SENIOR TOUR. Birdied four of his last five holes to cruise to an easy three-stroke victory over Bruce Fleisher at the Vantage Championship. Two lowest scores of the year came on the same weekend at Tanglewood when he carded back-to-back rounds of 62-64--126 and tied Dana Quigley's mark for best consecutive rounds in 1999...Official earnings of over $600,000 were better than twice what he pocketed in his rookie season. 1998: Fully exempt for 1999 after finishing eighth at the SENIOR TOUR National Qualifying Tournament at Grenelefe despite a final-round 74...Best finish of the season was a T7 at the EMC Kaanapali Classic...In contention with nine holes to play at the Saint Luke's Classic before fading to a T12 near Kansas City. 1997: Earned an exemption onto the SENIOR TOUR for 1998 by finishing T7 at the SENIOR TOUR National Qualifying Tournament on the Valley Course at the TPC at Sawgrass.
