Birdied the final three holes at the TPC of Tampa Bay to close with a 68 and tie for third at the Verizon Classic, his best finish in a SENIOR TOUR event since placing second at the 2000 Foremost Insurance Championship in Grand Rapids, MI...Along with Al Geiberger, lost to George Archer in a six-hole playoff for the Georgia-Pacific Super Seniors title at the Royal Caribbean Classic...Added a second tie for third place when he did so at the Toshiba Senior Classic where he had rounds of 68-68-66.

Enjoyed his most lucrative year on the SENIOR TOUR since 1998 with $522,444 in 24 starts...Finished 36th on the money list for the second straight year...Collected seven top-10 finishes, the most since 1998, and more top 10s than his previous two years combined...Two best finishes of the campaign came early in the year -- T4 at the Toshiba Senior Classic in March and T5 at the ACE Group Classic in February. Reached career milestones at both events. Went over the $9-million mark in SENIOR TOUR career earnings at the Toshiba even and eclipsed the $10 million plateau in PGA TOUR/SENIOR TOUR combined earnings at The ACE Group Classic...Also had strong showings at the U.S. Senior Open and Allianz Championship where he T7 at each event...Still ranks as one of the top putters on the SENIOR TOUR. Led all players in fewest putts per round (28.46).
 Career Highlights
2000: Posted four top-10 efforts, including a solo second at the Foremost Insurance Championship. Shot rounds of 70-66-65 and finished three strokes behind wire-to-wire winner Larry Nelson...Also T6 at the Las Vegas Senior Classic and T6 again at the U.S. Senior Open at Saucon Valley after rounds of 66-72-70-69. 1999: Did not finish in the top 10 on the money list for the first time since joining the SENIOR TOUR (45th)...Best performance came at the Pacific Bell Senior Classic, the final full field event of the year. Led by two strokes heading into the final round, but a 70 on Sunday left him T2 behind Joe Inman...Went over $8 million in SENIOR TOUR career earnings at the EMC Kaanapali Classic. 1998: Went over the million-dollar mark ($1,040,524) in yearly earnings for a fifth time, the first SENIOR TOUR player to do so for five consecutive years...Secured the 10th spot on the final money list to extend his streak of years among the top 10 to seven consecutive seasons...Opened with his lowest round of the year, a 7-under 64, at the Royal Caribbean Classic, but eventually lost to David Graham in a 10-hole playoff, the longest sudden-death affair in SENIOR TOUR history...Made a brief run at Larry Nelson on the final nine holes of the American Express Invitational, but settled for the runner-up spot. 1997: Birdied three of the final four holes to post a two-stroke win over Kermit Zarley at the Franklin Quest Championship. Second career win in Utah extended to six his string of years with at least one SENIOR TOUR title...Also made a run at the FORD SENIOR PLAYERS Championship, where he was tied for the lead in the final round before slipping down the stretch to finish T2, three back of Larry Gilbert...Went over the $6 million mark in SENIOR TOUR career earnings at the Cadillac NFL Golf Classic. 1996: Won multiple titles and earned more than $1 million for a fourth straight year, the first player ever to do so...Victorious at the U.S. Senior Open at Canterbury GC in Cleveland. After opening with a 70, fired back-to-back 67s to open a seven-shot lead after 54 holes and then held off a late charge by Hale Irwin to win by two strokes. $212,500 check was the largest of his professional career...Came from four strokes back a month later to win the First of America Classic near Grand Rapids...Eclipsed the $5 million level in SENIOR TOUR career earnings after he T8 at the Pittsburgh Senior Classic. 1995: Claimed the earliest win of his SENIOR TOUR career when he triumphed at the GTE Suncoast Classic near Tampa, his first Florida title...Came from four back to win the Pittsburgh Senior Classic later in the season..SENIOR TOUR leader in Rounds in the 60s (50) and Sub-Par Rounds (71). 1994: Claimed a second consecutive Arnold Palmer Award as the circuit's leading money-winner, the first player to do so since Bob Charles in 1988-89...Earnings of over $1.4 million were a personal-best and greater than his total amount in 27 years on the PGA TOUR...Voted Player of the Year by the Golf Writers Association of America...Won three times and was among the top three in over a third of his starts...Nabbed wins at the Nationwide Championship and a second FORD SENIOR PLAYERS Championship title, where he was six strokes better than Jim Albus...Also won the Burnet Senior Classic...SENIOR TOUR's top-ranked putter with an average of 1.730 strokes. 1993: Collected both the Arnold Palmer Award and the SENIOR TOUR Player of the Year Award after winning a career-high five tournaments...Won back-to-back events at the Franklin Quest Championship and the GTE Northwest Classic...Tied a 54-hole SENIOR TOUR record for largest victory margin when he won by nine strokes in Utah...Was the circuit's only wire-to-wire winner of the season at the GTE Northwest event near Seattle...Voted Player of the Year by the Golf Writers Association of America and other assorted publications. 1992: Voted SENIOR TOUR Rookie of the Year after 14 top 10s in 32 starts...Won his first event at the Mazda Presents THE SENIOR PLAYERS Championship, coming from behind to edge J.C Snead and Lee Trevino on the last hole. 1991: Debuted on the circuit at the First Development Kaanapali Classic. Shot three sub-70 rounds and finished 12th at the final full-field event of the year.

Former Chairman of the SENIOR TOUR Player Advisory Council...Served as a Player Director on the PGA TOUR Policy Board in 1975 and 1976...Made history in March 1996, when he and his two sons each played a different TOUR event on the same weekend...Dave was at the FHP Health Care Classic, Dave Jr. was playing at the Doral-Ryder Open and youngest son Ronnie was playing in the NIKE Inland Empire Open...Became co-owner of a bison ranch in northern California in 1996...Served as honorary chairman for the 1995 Heartland of America Pro-Am that raised more than $400,000 to build a new day care center for Oklahoma City...Was known as "King of the Corporate Outings" during the 1980s, when he averaged more than 90 days a year mixing business with the game of golf.
