in Tarpon Springs, Fla., and through May 2000 was vice president
of all golf operations on the 90-hole resort complex. . . In
1982, developed Golf Institute at Innisbrook and Tamarron,
the largest resort-owned and operated golf school in North
America, training more than 1,000 players annually. . . Attended
Duke University on a football scholarship from 1960-70. . . Named
NAIA All-American in 1973 at Campbell College in Buies Creek,

Pinehurst Resort and Golf Club in 1975, overseeing all five

on Feb. 3, in the Royal Caribbean Classic for his best career

PGA Tour in 1993, the 1991 U.S. Open and eight PGA Championships,
including a career-best finish of T-17 in 1988 at Oak Tree
Golf Club in Edmond, Okla. . . During that
Championship, Overton set the PGA Championship 36-hole standard
for a PGA club professional, including a second-round 66. . . Has
competed in 14 major championships. . . Winner,
2001 PGA Senior Club Professional Player of the Year Award,
based on six top-25 finishes in Senior PGA Tour events,
highlighted by a tie for sixth in the SAS Championship . . . Winner,

Senior Championship, 2000 Senior PGA Tour Regional Qualifying
School (by six strokes before failing to earn a berth in
