Interesting Facts
Always wears trademark straw hat in competition. . . was
2-under (33) after nine holes in the first round of the
1998 U.S. Open and on the leaderboard before an errant drive
on No. 10 was reportedly picked up by a spectator. The subsequent
provisional drive and one-stroke lost ball penalty led to
a triple-bogey 7 and a first-round 76. He shot 72 in the
second round and missed the cut by one stroke.
Golf Highlights
Shot 62 in final round of the 1990 Carolinas Mid-Amateur
Championship, a round that included a hole-in-one, an eagle,
and two bogeys. 1998 Carolinas Player of The Year.
