An Interview With: FRED GIBSON
FRED GIBSON: I got it up-and-down, I made a lot of putts, and
that's what you've got to do. You have to be patient. That's what
I heard. Someone told me that, so I did my best.
Q. It worked out. Being 2-under is right in there.
FRED GIBSON: It's a tough, hard golf course. And if you get
the wind going the different direction, one hole could play driver,
wedge and turn around 20 minutes later it might be a driver and
a 5-iron. The greens don't hold when they're tucked over some of
these bunkers that they have out there. Preparing is really important,
what time you play.
Q. (Inaudible.)
FRED GIBSON: I'll play early, it will be cooler, and the greens
will be fresher, and I'm putting good, so get on the quick greens,
they're easy to putt if you can get somebody to read them for you.
Q. You weren't the only one that had trouble on that last
green.
FRED GIBSON: I can't believe it. I had a guy that's been here
11 years on this course, and he couldn't see it break two feet.
It was a two foot break. So it was pretty interesting.
