Self-employed, runs a golf business which includes antiques and
golf collectibles from a gallery at his home. . . played
in the Senior Open in 1998 at Riviera CC, but missed the cut. . . has
tried to qualify every year since turning 50 to qualify, this marks
his second year. . . shot a 75 in qualifying at Olde
Kinderhook Golf Club, which included a quadruple bogey 8 on the
final hole, but managed to grab a spot in the Open with a win on
the second hole of the playoff. . . also played the
2001 Mid-Amateur in Fresno, did not make the match play. . . has
won a dozen club championships and has several course records in
the area. . . a golf historian. . . started
playing golf as a kid, gave up playing Little League baseball to
play golf, and developed a passion at a very early age. . . back
in 1998, after playing at Riviera, promised his wife Sue, an 18-handicap
player herself, that if he ever qualified for another Open she could
caddie for him. . . she will caddie for him. . . the
two have two children two children and three grandchildren. . . lists
Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus as his heroes, and has been fortunate
to meet both in his lifetime.
