Has been a professional golfer for 2 years, worked for a long time
in the snowboard and ski business as world sales manager for Ride
snowboards. . . as an amateur golfer, won the Vermont
State Amateur. . . played in the ’92 and ’94 U.S.
Amateur, and in the U.S. Public Links championship in ’98. . . went
to Q-school for the Champions Tour in November, made it through
the first stage but failed to qualify, will try again next year. . . has
been a Pepsi Tour event winner several times, North American Tour
winner three times. . . played baseball as a kid,
and started playing golf at 27 years old, became a zero handicap
within a year through practice, developed a passion for the game. . . started
playing tournament golf when he moved to Vermont in 1984, fourth
that year in the Vermont amateur, which he eventually won in 1994. . . when
he moved to California in ’99 started thinking about turning professional,
motivated by advice of players like Jeff Julian and Dan Quigley. . . has
two sons, 30 and 25, youngest son, Nicholas, will caddie for him. . . wife
is Kristi. . . works part-time still selling ski
boots, but as he lives in Southern California and is a professional
golfer does not ski as much as he would like.
