Player Notes: Participating in his 2nd U.S. Senior Open after missing the cut by four in 2003. . . Entered the Air Force after high school and served 8 months and 29 days before his father died and he returned home. . . stationed at Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, Mississippi. . . Worked as an assistant golf professional after the Air Force, turning professional in 1972. . . Worked as a head professional at Woodward Country Club in Bessemer, Alabama from 1974-77. . . Went out for the Q-school in 2000, got to the final stage and made the cut, but did not get his card. . . 2002 Alabama Open Champion for the second time and, at 52 years old, the oldest player to win. . . Won the Alabama Open Championship in 1977, on the same golf course (Pine Tree Golf Club) by the same exact score of 8-under par. . . Has tried to qualify for the U.S. Open 29 times, got to sectional qualifying 8 times. . . first alternate in 1978 at Cherry Hills. . . Works part time at Inverness Golf Shop. . . Currently plays on the Cadillac Classic Series and has compiled a number of top-10's on the tour.
