Senior British Open Champion Added To Field

PETE OAKLEY, who won the 2004 Senior British Open Championship on Sunday at Royal Portrush G.C. in Northern Ireland, has been added to the field. The USGA saved a place in the final field of 156 players for exemption category 18 (any player winning on the Champions Tour in the current calendar year). Oakley called the USGA office at Bellerive on the morning of July 25 to confirm his commitment.

Oakley, who is playing in his fourth Senior Open will be playing at 7:25 a.m. off the 1st tee on July 29 and 12:25 p.m. off the 10th tee on July 30 with Doug Johnson, of The Villages, Fla., and Terry Mauney, of Charlotte, N.C.

Oakley, who is the head professional at The Rookery in Rehoboth Beach, Del., had a best finish of T32 in 1999. He also made the cut in 2000 (T41) and 2003 (T35). He is a member of the European Seniors Tour. Prior to winning this major on the Champions Tour, his biggest win was the 1999 PGA Senior Club Professional Championship.
