He wore a brace until he was 12, and had surgery to remove part of his left knee so it would not outgrow his right) and serious shoulder surgery in 1979 to become one of the more dependable pitchers of the 1980s…Played 15 years in majors, compiling 151-125 record, nearly 1,500 strikeouts, with 3.59 career ERA... All-star in 1976, ’86.

Before 2005, played in nine Champions Tour events, best finish T-5 in 2003 Allianz Championship.
