Player Notes: A radiologist at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Foster came to the Syracuse area from Waterbury, Conn., and has been winning major local and state golf events for the past two decades…Foster has won 10 crown-jewel events, including eight Gerry Ashe Memorial and two Post-Standard Amateur titles. He is one of only three players to have won the New York triple crown of amateur golf, claiming the State Amateur in 1975, the State Mid-Amateur in 1992 and 1995, and the State Senior Amateur in 2003…Among his most important wins was the 1975 New York State Amateur, 1985 and 1986 Mid O’Hare Best Ball with partner and Bellevue pro Jerry Steelsmith, plus the Herald Amateur of 1980 and 1986 and 1999 Herald Seniors…One annual event Dr. Foster practically owns is the Gerry Ashe Memorial.
