Player notes: Only the third player in history to successfully defend his U.S. Senior Open title (2005-06), joining Miller Barber and Gary Player…One of five players to own multiple Senior Open titles…Besides Barber and Player, Jack Nicklaus and Hale Irwin are the others…Enjoyed a highly successful amateur career before turning pro at the age of 47…Semifinalist at 1992 U.S. Amateur, losing to eventual champion Justin Leonard, and was a member of two USA Walker Cup teams in 1991 and ’93, and competed on three USA World Amateur Team Championship squads (1990, ’92, ’94)…Turned pro in 1995 and won three times on the Nike Tour (now Nationwide Tour) and became PGA Tour’s oldest rookie at 47 when he competed in 1996…Played two seasons on PGA Tour before joining Champions Tour, where he has posted 11 victories…Also won Constellation Energy Players Championship in 2001 and Senior PGA Championship in 1999 for other two senior majors…Attended Norwich (Vt.)
