Player notes: Made fourth Champions Tour victory a major title when he rallied with a final-round 68 to win the 2007 U.S. Senior Open at Whistling Straits…Has three runner-up finishes in 2008, including back-to-back playoff losses at The ACE Group Classic and AT&T Champions Classic…Only PGA Tour win came at 1995 Walt Disney/Oldsmobile Classic…Brother Bart competes on the PGA Tour and both competed at the 2008 U.S. Open at Torrey Pines, the first brothers to play in the same Open since Jerry and Jay Haas in 2002 at Bethpage State Park…Started playing the game at the age of 10…Obtained Tour card in 1978…Came close to winning the The Players Championship in 1982 but a costly three-putt at 15 led to a second-place tie behind winner Jerry Pate…Tore up shoulder in 1984, the same year his father and wife, Sue, were stricken with serious illnesses…Underwent shoulder surgery in December of 1985…Nickname is Dr. Dirt because of his "five o’clock" beard…It took him 474 PGA Tour events before getting his first and only victory.
