Player notes: Won 1977 U.S. Open at Southern Hills C.C., despite someone calling in a death threat while he was playing the final round… Using an unorthodox but effective swing, Green won 19 PGA Tour events and has since added four wins on the Champions Tour, the last coming at the 2002 Lightpath Long Island Classic…Worked one summer as an assistant pro at famed Merion Golf Club…Active in golf course design and worked with Champions Tour member Fuzzy Zoeller on the TPC Southwind, the home of the FedEx St. Jude Classic…Also helped design Greystone Golf and Country Club in Birmingham with Bob Cupp…Childhood hero was Boston Red Sox great Ted Williams...Best U.S. Senior Open finish was fifth in 2000.
