Player Notes: Started playing the game at age 10, going to the course with his father... He obtained his Tour card in 1978 and in the 1982 TPC, he was tied for the lead after three rounds with Bruce Lietzke. When he birdied the 14th the last day, he still was tied with Lietzke and Jerry Pate. However, he three-putted the 15th and though he birdied the 16th, Pate birdied the 17th and 18th to win. Bryant tied with Scott Simpson for 2nd... Later in the year he was 2nd in the Quad Cities Open. The following year, he again was runner-up in the Byron Nelson Classic... In 1984 he not only tore up his left shoulder, but his father and his wife, Sue, were stricken with serious illnesses. He tried to play with the shoulder, but played hurt. Finally in December of 1985 he underwent surgery. The recovery period was long and slow, but the good signs started to reappear in 1988. and in 1989 when he finished 84th on the money list... Credits a lot of his success in part to work done with David Leadbetter. His nickName: on tour is "Dr Dirt" because of his "five o'clock" beard. It took him 474 tournaments before he finally won at the '95 Walt Disney Classic. Joined the Champions Tour in 2005 after finishing third at the National Qualifying Tournament at the King and Bear at World Golf Village near St. Augustine, Fla....Five of his six rounds were in the 60s, and he finished 22-under-par for the event.
